Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

This policy describes how 9 Line ("we," "us," or "our") handles personal information when you visit our website, create an account, list or browse equipment, message other members, or otherwise use our services. It applies to buyers, sellers, and visitors in the United States.

Introduction

We operate an online marketplace for heavy equipment and related listings. To provide that service, we need certain information about you and how you use the platform. We describe those practices here at a high level; where another document (such as our Terms of Service) is more specific about a feature, both may apply together.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use 9 Line, we may collect:

  • Account and profile data — such as name, email address, phone number if you provide it, company information, public profile fields (for example display name, bio, location fields), and preferences you save in your account.
  • Listing and transaction-related data — descriptions, photos, pricing, equipment details, messages between buyers and sellers about a listing, bids, and records related to checkout or payments processed through our payment partners.
  • Authentication data — identifiers provided by our sign-in provider (for example a subject ID from our identity service) and session tokens stored in cookies or secure storage when you stay logged in.
  • Network and security data — we derive a client IP address from each HTTP request (for example from standard proxy headers your browser sends to our hosting provider) and use it to enforce rate limits and reduce abuse. Those counters may be stored briefly in memory or in our Redis cache alongside a hashed or bucketed key, not in your long-term profile in our application database. For some features (such as guest newsletter signup), we may pass the same IP to Google reCAPTCHA when verifying the request. Our hosting and API infrastructure (for example Vercel and AWS) may also log IP addresses in ordinary access or diagnostic logs according to their own retention.
  • Communications — when you email support@nineline.com or contact us through other channels, we keep the content of those messages and related metadata as needed to respond.

You may choose not to provide some profile fields, but certain features (for example messaging or publishing a listing) require a functioning account and related data.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the marketplace and your account.
  • Facilitate communications between buyers and sellers and send service-related notices.
  • Process payments and prevent fraud, in line with rules from our payment processors.
  • Enforce our Terms, investigate abuse, and protect users and the platform.
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
  • Send marketing communications only where you have opted in or as otherwise permitted by law (you can adjust notification and marketing preferences where the product offers those controls).

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) for purposes including: keeping you signed in; protecting against cross-site request forgery; remembering preferences; measuring basic usage where we use analytics; and supporting payments or security features from vendors like our payment partner. Some cookies are set by third parties when you load their scripts (for example fraud prevention or embedded checkout).

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may limit sign-in, checkout, or other features. This section replaces a separate cookie policy page: all cookie-related disclosures for the current service are summarized here.

How we share information

We may share information with:

  • Other users — as needed to operate the marketplace (for example your public profile, listing content, and messages you send in-app). Information you mark as public (such as opting in to show your email on your profile) is visible as described in the product.
  • Service providers — vendors who host our infrastructure, process payments, send email, provide authentication, analytics, or customer support tools, subject to confidentiality and processing terms appropriate to their role.
  • Legal and safety — when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of 9 Line, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will provide notice as required by law.

We do not sell your personal information in the traditional sense of exchanging data for money with data brokers. Where "sale" or "sharing" has specific legal definitions in your state (for example for targeted advertising), we aim to honor applicable opt-out rights as described below.

Retention

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations (for example tax or financial record-keeping), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When data is no longer required, we delete or de-identify it according to our internal practices and applicable law.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No online service is perfectly secure; you should use a strong, unique password and protect access to your email account used for login and recovery.

Your choices and rights

If you are a U.S. resident, depending on your state of residence you may have rights to:

  • Access or receive a copy of certain personal information we hold.
  • Correct inaccurate profile or account information.
  • Delete your account or certain data, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Opt out of certain marketing emails or SMS where those channels are offered.
  • Opt out of certain types of processing or appeal our response to a request, where your state law provides those rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. You may also have the right to appeal a decision we make about your request where applicable state law requires.

This summary is not a complete list of every state law that may apply. If you have questions about rights in your state, contact us and we will respond in line with applicable law.

Children

9 Line is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate (for example a banner or email when we have your address).
